For people with knee joint pain or chondromalacia of the kneecap (patella).
Knee joint pain can range from sharp to dull/aching and usually worsens during activities that load the joint, such as running, climbing stairs, squatting, or prolonged sitting.
For successful treatment, it’s important to make temporary lifestyle adjustments — for example, reducing running volume, avoiding long periods of sitting, and performing exercises that strengthen the gluteal muscles. Strengthening this area helps people with knee pain gain better control of the leg and move in new, healthier ways.
These exercises vary in intensity and are just an example of what may be prescribed during physiotherapy:
1. Side-lying leg lift
2. Single-leg glute bridge
3. Band walks
4. Static lunge
5. Crossover lunges
6. Reverse lunges
7. Single-leg deadlifts
